Eigergletscher, GrindelwaldOur Grindelwald trip was kind of last minute. I got a cheaper ticket to interlaken from Siegburg, and I took it. Now a days I prefer to travel in ICE than flying. They are fast, no need to check in 4-5 hours early, lots of space , no problem with luggage and baby rooms. We took a train to Basel and a connecting till interlaken ost. Ellie kept playing with toys in the kinderplatz and even made a friend in the next train. We reached interlaken around 12.45 noon and got freshened up. Took a ticket till Grindelwald first, and shop from the Coop at station. All prices were double or so than Germany, we took milk, juice , roasted chicken and yogurt. Next we took the special mountain train to Grindelwald town. It is beautiful throughout the journey with green valleys and hint of snowy picks in the far. Once we reach, we roamed around a bit ,filled our water bottle from fresh spring. Ellie guided me to a view point with glimpse of valleys down. She also discovered the local pumpkin farming.. 🎃 😍 In some time she fell asleep in the kinderwagen. I took the train down to a stop called Terminal, because the eigerexpress cable car starts from here. It is quite expensive, 64€ for one person round-trip. I took it and we got a whole 26 seat cable gondola just for us. The view is breathtaking indeed. It takes 15 min to reach Eigergletscher and there you can enjoy the view until 18.00 pm when the last cable returns. There are restaurants, bistro, viewing deck, restrooms, baby changing room and a station for mountain rail to Jungfrauroch. Baby was still sleeping, I took several photos, walk around a bit . Then she woke up and we sat there and enjoyed the view, drinking juice. Around 5 ish we took a cable back to terminal, but this time it was full. I took a video of whole ride this time, due to space shortage, not able to share here. From terminal we bought some Lyndt chocolate, the master chocolatier of Switzerland 🇨🇭. We took a train to interlaken now and there we enjoyed lake brienz, ate some food, played with water and around 8 , take a train back to the Swiss capital Bern.
Thanks too priti for reading it. But call me biased, I find no place in earth as beautiful as India. We have all these, glaciers, mountains, valleys and so much more!
Lovely images and we also used to prefer to travel by train while living in Paris. In Canada, trains aren’t very convenient and distances are great so we have had to endure the “joy” of flying. Switzerland is indeed a beautiful country. (Suzanne)
Beautiful Switzerland! Thanks for sharing your experience with excellent photos. ,👍👍

Wonderful contrasts between the cold snowy mountains and hot blue sky. Switzerland is beautiful. Have yet to reach India!

First went to Grindelwald in 1959! Only a few chalets in the valley, as I recall.
