Cochem an der Mosel

Cochem station DB

Recently, my passion has been finding the local gems of Germany with short weekend trips. We went to Cochem for a Saturday in DB regional trains. It is in the Mosel valley and from Frankfurt you can take ICE or RE 2&1 for reaching here. There is a shuttle bus to go to the mountain top to the castle or you can hike there as well. The Altstadt or old town is picturesque and with lots of shops and restaurants. There are some pretty cute hotels, but I cannot give a firsthand review, as we just went for day trip. Do try the world famous Mosel wine and enjoy the beautiful sun, fresh air and vineyards . We took a boat while coming back till Treis-karden and from there we again took train back. There is a kids spielplatz near the station and the place is family friendly. Enjoy some pictures for the breathtaking views and hints of autumn coming .. hugs and lots of love.. 1. Great post and so many wonderful photos. Looks like no matter which route you take into Cochem your gaze will be drawn to its fairytail-like sights and its giant four-storey octagonal tower far above the river. I would love to visit one day to see it in person. Thanks for sharing and have a nice day 🙂 Aiva xx

  2. What a gorgeous fairytale place Cochem looks to be – such beautiful photos! It makes me a bit wistful as our last overseas trip was to Mainz (May 2019) which we made our base for a nearly a week (plus we were in the UK too). I just love the Rhein region – have been there a few times now. We never went down the Mosel though we stayed in Coblenz on a previous trip and did do a short boat cruise up there but only a little way. We also spent a day in Frankfurt – all in all a beautiful part of the world 🙂

      1. That sounds lovely – I’d love to go back and once this situation has all settled we do intend to travel to Europe again 🙂 We have done quite a few rail journeys in our time and that stretch of the Rhine is simply gorgeous 🙂
