Old town, Tallinn : a photolog


If you have time to visit  just the Old town in Tallinn, that is enough Tallinn to take in. We thought, it is one of the most beautiful old towns in Europe. There are cafes and restaurants, courtyards  of chocolatiers and  artisans , souvenir shops, cobble stone roads, museums, Tallin’s part of old defence system: the towers and gates, severals old churches and squares, open air theatre, town-hall and even parliament and prison cells! Here is a small visual tour of  the Tallinn Old town for you guys  🙂

      5. You would be most welcomed! There is no where near the concentration of buildings and sights that you usually see, but the outdoor beauty is unsurpassed. We love it here!

  5. The uniqueness of Tallinn among all other European Medieval cities is that the structure of the city (Upper City, Merchant’s City, Common Folks City) is completely preserved. And most of the walla and gates, separating and connecting these parts, are still there. Actually, the only missing piece of the city is the very top – the Castle :).
    Did you see the Drunken Knight street? Did you get a chance to eat at the Pepper Sack?

      1. Nope, but my significant other lived there for the first 15 years of his life. Also, I used to go to Tallinn for 1-day trips, when I lived nearby (this is unrelated to him :))), but when we would go together, it would give me an entirely new perspective of the city. I just love it whole-heartedly, and I am happy to see that now you like it, too 🙂

  9. Loved the photos. I have a friend here in Spain who is Estonian and Swedish (who father was an artist including here in Spain), and another woman who is a fairly well-known actress from Estonia who lives here with her family. Nice to get a better sense where they are from, and the photos seem like the are is unique.

  12. Wonderful collection of images. Please let me offer a positive idea–a map showing where the old pat of town is in relation to the entire town–I ought to do the same myself on my images of my own region.
