This time while in Geneva, I wanted to go little outside the main city for short trips. I had only 5 days and most of the city attractions I visited already last time. And there was an unexpected heavy snow fall ! I got a tip from the hostel brochure : visit France with Geneva transport card 🙂 So I took bus 8 one afternoon skipping some of the lectures in ESMO IO conference and headed for Mont Salève
Mt. Saleve is literally a few steps from the bus stop in Veyrier. You can take the cable car that takes you to the top in summer, but when I went it was closed. The mountain Salever dominates Geneva and offers a magnificent panorama of the City of Geneva at the bank of Lake Geneva. Though there is an immigration post there, i walked past it and they did not even bother to ask me. But anyhow I was carrying my passport and schengen visa, which is wise if someone asks you.
There are plenty of restaurants and bars at Mount Saleve, but I did not try . Do remember, bus 8 has two routes, one goes to some other place. You will easily get the right one from the bus route map available from your hostel/ hotel … happy trip:D
