I planned my Paris visit well when I was there for the first time, not to miss the unmissables as I had limited time. Basilica of Sacred heart was a definite visit and fortunately it was walkable from our hotel.
I suggest you guys to plan the places you wanna visit in Paris, because it becomes incredibly easy then and also cheaper (as far as possible in Paris where everything is too expensive). I booked my hotel previously and knew the road how to go to the basilica.
My major intent was to visit Montmartre, the highest point of the city, the basilica situated in the summit. Basilica is a catholic church and a monument both politically and culturally significant in the history of France.Today the Basilica is asserted to be dedicated in honor of the 58,000 who lost their lives during the war. It also specifies to “expiate the crimes of the Commune”
It was raining on that day, and light was not at all good for photography. I took some outside snaps and panoramic view of the city as almost whole city is visible from here. No photography is allowed inside the church, though almost everyone was clicking their mobile phones, digital cams and even DSLR. Unfortunately , I did not 🙂
Many artists had worked in or around Montmartre, including Salvador Dalí, Amedeo Modigliani, Claude Monet, Piet Mondrian, Pablo Picasso, Camille Pissarro and Van Gogh. Montmartre is also the setting for several hit films. So it is a crime not visiting Montmartre for the art lovers while visiting Paris. Today also you can see several artists busy with there work. And they insist to draw your portrait , so I had one 🙂 Funny thing is the Pompidou is clearly visible from here, which is the largest modern art museum of Europe.
And here I am sharing with you my own “private view of Eiffel tower ” in Paris 🙂
The sad thing is French people are so proud of this architecture, till they are destroying the beauty of the church by painting the walls outside.
