Versailles houses lots of incredible art works, any museum can be jealous of. Versailles became the home of the French nobility and the location of the royal court, and the kings used every opportunity to spend money in art works , architectures , frescoes and oil paintings. There is nothing much to say about it, I am sharing few art pieces I liked .

These are very interesting paintings, many of which are what artists did to represent reality before photography became relatively available but many of these paintings have a an organization of content that is a “photograph” of the artist’s imagination. Cool stuff.

Absolutely right, I never thought of that angle. But yes, the Kings and Queens or whoever had money, had their portraits and photos of their lifestyle painted…absolutely cool stuff

So much is told through the paintings and tapestries we see displayed in historic locations.

Can just imagine the time it took to paint them, but I guess some of the big artist usually has some ‘help’ 🙂

May be, I am going to take to another palace in Germany, where they said an Italian artist painted the whole ceiling. It took a long time, but they don’t mention about help..but I wonder you are right 😊

I have been fortunate to visit Versailles many times when I lived in Paris and several times since. Although I have been into the palace, I find it somewhat overpowering – all gold and shiny – although I accept there are many lovely works of art inside. I much prefer the gardens where there are generally fewer people and you can spend an entire day walking the wonderful grounds.
