Barcelona is an amazing city you totally should visit. Here  are some quick tips for you…

1. Barcelona has an amazing hostel culture, different from most other cities.

Here mix and match is far greater and staying in hostel is Barcelona is totally worth it. We stayed in “HelloBCN”  , which is in great location, complementary breakfast & WIFI and okay type of Bed. The address is ” Carrer de Lafont, 10, 08004 Barcelona, Spain, contact :+34 934 42 83 92″ . The Staff is very good , speaks great english and would help you with most of the directions.

2. Be it hostel or hotel, wisely choose your location.

La Rambla

Barcelona is a huge city, be sure to stay near La Rambla as top most attractions are either nearby or efficiently connected from here. Moreover, the shopping street, city centre and endless restaurants are around, offering great Spanish as well as, Chinese, Indian, Turkish, Pakistani food and Sushi. Bars and the nightclubs are also around.

3. Plan according to your number of days.

If you are staying for 3 days, save one day for visiting another country, Andora. We stayed for two days. So we were not able to visit Andora this time. Or you can go for a day trip to Montserrat monastery.

4. Tourist Places nearby La Rambla.

If you are staying near La Rambla, Maritime museum, Port De Barcelona, Mirador de Colom , Wax museum, Erotica museum, Liceu -the opera , Palau guell & Santa Maria del pi– all are within walking distance. For individual entries, please visit individual posts.

 

5. Take Metro to Sagrada Familia which has got the same name.

Buy a ten ride ticket from metro kiosk( Around 10 euro), it is multi personal and valid for all the public transport including bus, tram, metro. This way you may buy another ticket only when these rides end , and get the best deal. Book ticket for Sagrada online, as there is usually a big crowd. From Sagrada Familia walk to Old Hospital de la Santa Creu which is a nice building. The street in between itself is very nice and holds several sculptures. Take 90 no Bus from here to Park Guell.

 

6.Getting to Park guell and coming back:

It is far. You can take 24 no bus from Parel lal  Metro station to Park guell or take L3 Line from Paerl lal to Vallcarca. Bus stop is just in front of the park gate, while from metro station you have to walk significantly. Or you can take the above route as stated in “5”. Ticket is 7 euro if only you want to enter the monumental zone. Rest of the park is free. Gaudi house museum is also situated here. Keep your ticket with you, as they may check in between. While coming back take 24 no. bus to catalunya and get down at Casa Amatller to see that along with Casa Batllo and Casa Mila. Then walk to Placa de Catalunya . For more visit:

7. Don’t miss Spanish food.

It is absolutely a must must must…. I specially like Paella, so much that I cooked it at home also. And there  are Tapas. Tapas’ consists of  wide variety of appetisers, or snacks, in Spanish cuisine. In Spain, patrons of tapas can order many different tapas and combine them to make a full meal , so did we. My personal favourite are sea food Paella, and baby squid and tuna in Tapas. There is tapas walking tour, which is unique and well appreciated  by tourists. 8. Many attractions are closed on Sundays:

I missed La boqueria , the best market of Barcelona as it was closed on Sunday. Do some search. But Sagrada Familia, and Park Guell both are open on sundays.

9. Bike tours, water sports and night life:

I can guide you little about these except these are all available in Barcelona and the best place to ask for them is your hostel or hotel. The staff is aware of every detail and will happily guide you.

10.Ladies , be ready for a shopping experience

Fabrics, cosmetics, organic makeups , shoes- you name it. You can find them in both sides of La Rambla, in nearby streets of Sagrada Familia, and around the city centre- Palca De Catalunya. For antiques, visit the small antique market at the port , near statue of Columbus. Things are expensive here, but some investing articles are available. Besides both sides of La Rambla have countless number of shops selling souvenirs . But they are also available around Sagrada Familia and cheaper there.
