We started our journey to the panorama trail from Zurich Hauptbahnhof. That time we did not know Uetliberg is one of the favorite hiking trail of Switzerland. We headed there, as the to and fro journey was covered in Zurich card. So, we took our backpacks and boarded the train.

Uetliberg is only half an hour away from downtown Zurich. The journey was pleasant. Uetliberg is not so much mountain, the peak Uto Kulm is only 871 meters up the sea level. It offers an unique panoramic view of the Zurich city , Limmat valley and the Alps.

On the top, you can take a bite in the restaurant. Their gourmet menu is well appreciated as of their banquets. After some refreshment, go to the peak for the city view and the view of the valleys down there. You can go for hiking through ‘Planet trail” or take areal cableway form Felsenegg to Adliswil. The mountain also offers you mountain biking, sledging and paragliding. After a day long exploration, come back to the guest house and get a spa to rejuvenate yourself.

Even if you don’t wanna stay here, or do not have time, just walk around Uto kulm and take the fresh air in, and enjoy the heavenly beauty of nature . I went during Christmas, so everything was covered by snow, though the summit was clear of fog. Thus we had the opportunity to experience the breathtaking view of the city, the river and the mountain. Uetliberg is very well connected to Zurich, SBB trains leaves every half an hour. So, easily you can stay in a hostel in Zurich and make a trip to the “ Zurich’s own mountain”.
